I had my first hearing test with my CI at my one month mapping.
I scored a 90% on hint sentences (example: "The orange is sweet") , 66% on words, and 81% on phonemes (sounds).
So, at one month she said I did really good.
Considering I was at 24% with my one good ear, and with hearing aids, yes I did good :)

At my six month check I scored a 16% in speech comprehension. It's better than nothing, but not great, and I don't think it's better now. I WANT MY SECOND IMPLANT! BlueCross is SO slow!!! Ugh!
I think the reason I hear so poorly is that I didn't have any hearing in that ear at all for 30 years. I can't turn the sensitivity up much or it gives me headaches. I think it will get a little better, but I can't imagine ever getting scores like yours! Wow!

Your blog is a valuable testament to the evolution of the deaf society. As the deaf society evolves, they shed some of their past so they can gain wonderful opportunities to participate in all aspects of our society.

That's great! You'll do even better as you go along. Believe me, in 6 months time you'll be saying, wow I was really doing badly at that time! Thing is, comparing how you are now to how you WERE just a month or so ago shows what progress you went through.
I answered your question in my blog and now I have one for you. Do you get interference when you use a cell phone? When I use T coil with my husband's cell I get the buzzing sound... I thought all cellphones were supposed to be buzzing free now...

I do get more volume, but my audi works different from yours. My next map will be in a month and I know you go more often.
Some cars are noisier than others. I have no issues in our Taurus. I can hear Anton over the music, the engine and the air conditioning. I couldn't do that before, he had to repeat many times or just wait till we arrive and get out.
I am really happy with the music too. Jazz is back!
